After the marshes on the left bank of the River Guadalquivir were drained to create arable land, <strong>there was a need to create an entity that could provide services to over 14,000 hectares of farmland that began to be cultivated near Lebrija<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-6\">\n<h2>Local production<\/h2>\n<p class=\"text-justify\">Since its inception, this pioneering cooperative was composed of day labourers and workers from Lebrija and other areas who began to farm these saline lands, which over time have become <strong>one of the most productive in Europe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"divider-verde mt-4 mb-4\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"wow slideInRight text-center destacado-grande p-3\" data-wow-duration=\"2s\">The technological improvements introduced, and the farming of cotton as the main cash crop, enabled the entire region to work with Las Marismas de Lebrija SCA, thereby becoming the key driver of agro-industrial development and employment in the area.<\/p>\n<span class=\"collapseomatic \" id=\"id69eb53c457314\"  tabindex=\"0\" title=\"Read more\"    >Read more<\/span><div id=\"target-id69eb53c457314\" class=\"collapseomatic_content \">\n<p class=\"text-justify\"><strong>The first cotton gin was installed in our company in 1984. This led to a major change in our business model<\/strong>, transforming our company from a service provider to an agro-industrial benchmark. Cotton farming and ginning were the beating heart of Las Marismas de Lebrija Cooperative for over two decades.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-justify\">Our commitment to technology and innovation led to the expansion of the ginning industry in 1986, with increased capacity. The cotton fibre produced at Las Marismas de Lebrija SCA started to be valued owing to its quality, resistance, cleanliness, brightness and colour. Starting in 2009, changes in the cotton sector enabled our company to process and market the cotton produced by the members of the five major cooperatives in the area. In the late 1980s, there was a need to introduce new crops as a meaningful alternative to traditional agriculture. Las Marismas de Lebrija SCA acquired a tomato concentrate factory that was located in an adjoining facility, thereby becoming the first Andalusian cooperative to produce processed tomato in Andalusia.<\/p>\n<h3>Pioneers in the production of processed tomato in Andalusia<\/h3>\n<div class=\"divider-verde mt-2 mb-3\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"texto\">The original Tomato Factory, with a manufacturing capacity of 450 tons per day, has been expanded several times to incorporate state-of-the-art technology. This, together with the professionalism of our farmers and new cultivation techniques, has allowed us to produce a premium quality tomato paste that is available across the world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"texto\"><strong>Currently, the fresh tomato processing capacity of the Tomato Factory exceeds 5,000 tons per day.<\/strong> The production process, which is subject to rigorous quality controls, aims to be environmentally sustainable.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wavesBg\">\n<div class=\"container pt-5 pb-5\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-xs-12 col-md-7\">\n<h5>We are much more than tomato&#8230;<\/h5>\n<p class=\"texto mt-2\">In addition to Tomato, in 1990, our technical department and our farmers started to grow horticultural products for marketing fresh. This project was significantly expanded in 2003 with the construction of a new fresh vegetable Handling and Packaging Centre. Currently, it has two packaging lines where a variety of vegetables produced in nearby fields is processed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"texto\">Horticultural products have steadily gained importance for our company. Corporate partnerships and trade agreements continue to boost the growth of this sector.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-xs-12 col-md-5\">\n<p class=\"borde-verde p-4 destacado-grande\">Las Marismas de Lebrija SCA has been growing consistently.
