WELCOME TO MARISMAS DE LEBRIJA, S.C.A.
Las Marismas de Lebrija Co-operative (S.C.A.) was founded with the aim of supporting the farmers in the Lower Guadalquivir and meeting their needs. It was initially a services co-operative, but soon expanded to the agri-industrial sector, particularly the ginning industry, as cotton is the main crop in the area. Currently, Las Marismas de Lebrija processes and markets cottonsupplied by five large co-operatives that operate under the Coalsa (Colectivo Algodonero del Sur de Andalucia S.L.) banner.
In 1988, Las Marismas de Lebrija expanded beyond cotton to include tomato through the acquisition of a tomato concentrate factory. Today, 4,300 tonnes (mt) of tomatoes are processed daily owing to positive response and strong demand. Our facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, achieving outstanding energy efficiency.
Las Marismas de Lebrija also ventured into the cut flower business. Over 70 million carnation and mini-carnation stems are grown in cut flower greenhouses, which spread over 3,000 square metres. In 1990, Las Marismas de Lebrija diversified its production even further with a fresh horticulture development project.
In addition to the facilities and production processes mentioned above, the co-operative also provides a number of services to meet all the needs of professional farmers.
Today, Las Marismas de Lebrija Co-operative is comprised of over 500 farmers with a combined area of about 13,000 hectares.
